Switch Hack

Hey Lovelies,
I'm sorry that I've neglected this blog since my last post. It got insanely busy after the new website launch last year! Since the last time you've heard from me we have started our IVF journey, along with selling our land and buying our quaint lil' home in QLD. Then, of course, there was the MASSIVE move from Maitland, NSW to Hervey Bay QLD... I won't even go into that headache.
So, what can you expect in this blog? I started doing up W's play room, which is located in my studio. I'm building a half-wall and giving it a makeover, to give that 'kid' vibe. As this went on, I realised he wasn't playing with many of the toys that were in the boxes. That's when I remembered that I hadn't done a toy rotation since we moved! This is a hack I learnt from another Insta Mama, she rotates her kids playroom toys every 6 months. I quickly got the box with the packed up toys and started shifting through them. His favourite toys stayed out, broken ones were chucked and the ones which W has outgrown have been put aside to donate.
When I finally finished the rotation I noticed W was mesmerised (for at least half an hour!) with a toy he hadn't seen in a while. Instead of his usual behaviour lately of not knowing what to do with himself, or hardly playing with his toys, he was involved and loving it!
I realised that, even though it is a daunting task for me (or I forget, which is more than likely the case haha), it is so worth doing! There have been countless times over the last couple of days where I've caught him just playing in his playroom all by himself and this wasn't happening before the rotation!
So I wanted to share this little hack with you, which not many of us (me included) would never think of doing. Too many toys can be overwhelming for kiddies, and halving them and changing the toys around, every 6 or so months, keeps them interacting with the toys they have available. It also saves money on getting more toys haha.
Anyway, stick around as I'll be sharing more art fun, science experiments, IVF journey and house renos.
S xx
